Frida Kahlo is known for her brightly colored self-portraits identifying the human body and death. She became a speaker for women, for their inner strength and love of Mexico and its culture. She is a feminist icon that is seen through her art and activism. Some of Frida's struggles are that she suffered long-term pain and had to undergo 32 surgeries. Some of these surgeries affected her ability to have kids, and she had to go through multiple miscarriages. She frequently challenged traditional gender roles and often dressed in male clothing. Her arts embody the pride of Mexico's national patriotic movement, known as the Mexicanidad. She has a unique personality and a multifaceted life. Although she denied it, she is sometimes known as a Surrealist. Frida Kahlo was left-handed.
