As the internet has progressed, so has expanded the massive amounts of content available. These resources are easily accessible, especially in contrast to the more traditional or alternative forms. Students can access information relating to merely any topic associated with their educational needs. The effortless opportunity to find test answers, summaries to assigned readings, answer filled assignments, 'cheat-sheets', downloadable essays, and more with a few simple clicks, with the daunting fear of failing luring above their heads, utilizing resources on the web without authorization and often neglecting proper compensation, is likely the most common violation committed by students.

In order to reduce, and eventually aim to eliminate the utilization of content and resources without authorization or compensation and tiered system could be effective. To begin with, with the use of web technologies implemented in elementary grades parallel to the progress of such technologies, so should exist a curriculum which emphasizes acknowledging the resource/creator. This curriculum should track students throughout their education and aim to become more sophisticated as they grow, throughout their college years. Secondly, universities should aim to develop coursework which fosters creative thinking and the ability to independently and critically think, rather than the more traditional 'busy' work techniques. Third, a culture which accepts the usage of non-academic sources, and understands their values to aid students, rather than examining the use of such as cheating, to thereby promote students to credit the source.
