The delivery of a newborn takes place in 3 stages. The first stage is Labor (the dilation stage) During this stage the cervix will thin and open to allow the baby to reach the birth canal.

Stage 2 the expulsion stage begins when the cervix is fully dilated which then the woman will begin to push the baby out into the world. The third and final stage is the delivery of the placenta after the baby arrives the placenta follows, sometimes mothers will keep the placenta and eat it 🤢

Aftermath

After childbirth the mother and baby will experience a period of mental and physical adjustment known as postpartum. During postpartum a mother may experience postpartum depression which is serious and requires professional nurse. in some severe cases a mother might develop postpartum psychosis which unfortunately can cause some mothers to attempt to kill their newborn child.
