I especially like the emphasis on Freire’s work as a basis for creating an anti-racist class culture. I can see the utility of the rubric as an ongoing resource to help keep me accountable and focused on anti-racist practices. Decolonizing the curriculum demands a commitment to confront and radically alter the way we think about everything we do as educators and academics, I think we achieve that only through continual reflection, commitment and community.  
I’ve been in conversation with others who “agree with” the goals of this work “in theory”, but stop short of action, believing they are unrealistic or unachievable. I believe we can only really commit ourselves to the work if we see it as realistic, believe that change is possible, and are willing to enact  and model a new paradigm.  Everything else flows from there.  

]]> 2021-04-26 16:53:33 UTC https://padlet.com/shradhat/pugm3v6k7qqb8cz5/wish/1460560619 https://padlet.com/shradhat/pugm3v6k7qqb8cz5/wish/1466648135 I feel like it goes back to the single story.  We have to bring in multiple stories, and stories that empower and humanize, really making them central to the coursework and course environment.  And, while action is important, we can’t just select actions to integrate and adopt.  I feel that only once we have become fully committed our actions spring from that commitment, thus I feel more strongly drawn to commitment as a driving factor in advancing the work, along with regular reflection, experimentation and feedback, both among colleagues and with students.   A theme that keeps coming up for me is how to stay committed.  I realize it's easier in some disciplines than others.  For example, this is all central to what i do in sociology.  How do we help to encourage support others in this commitment?
