Meriwether Lewis was born in Virginia, August 18, 1774. I would take him with me because I know that he can chart and map things that are important that we might find. He has good navigating skills and most likely can help with setting up camp if needed. He has studied Astronomy, Botany, Anatomy, Mathematics, and Medicine under various different scientists of the time. This means that he would be able to help us find our way to and from wherever our goal was. 

I would recruit her mainly because of her navigation skills. She knew how to get where she wanted to and since she was an Indian and lived an extremely rural lifestyle, she knew how to pitch camp if needed and catch the food they might’ve not otherwise known how to get and cook. Also, since she was a woman, it shows other tribes that ours wasn’t one that was trying to hurt people and we were peaceful. 

This tribe had a peaceful relationship with the Europeans for 50 years prior to Lewis and Clark’s expedition. When the explorers did come to where the Blackfeet tribe was, they at first were peaceful towards each other and the Blackfeet ended up staying with the Americans for a while. One night, however, the Native Americans decided that they didn’t trust that the explorers had guns. They launched an attack at night which ended up going awry and broke into chaos. Two Natives died, and this was the first negative encounter between the explorers and any native tribe. 

This plant has many different variations. The ‘Rose’ family is a vast category full of numerous different types of flowers, many not looking like the kinds that we recognise at first glance as roses. When Lewis was exploring, he was familiar with the genus and so he was able to identify and chart the wild rose as the correct plant species
