The topic of the research is about writing practices while using social media. As you may know by personal experience and by the Naomi Baron’s text and relevant literature, people use various scripts and other devices/techniques to communicate information in S.M.

E.g. in the case of Greek, some people use historic orthography while others use various types of Greeklish or even introduce English or other languages in messages written in Greek. In general, abbreviations, images, emoticons, symbols etc. have also been observed in written texts in social media.
