I have learnt that a rainforest consists of multiple layers, which are the forest floor, understory, canopy and the emergent layer.
The forest floor receives the least amount of light at 2% as the leaves from the trees cover the light. Animal such as jaguars and tapirs also live on the forest floor. The understory is where smaller trees grow where there small areas of sunlight. The canopy is where 80% of sunlight is absorbed by plants and also where birds, monkeys, bats and other climbing and flying animals can be found. The emergent layer is the top layer of a rainforest and is where the tallest trees are, as well as where there is the most sunlight.
