In this vibrant and detailed book, we follow the life of Martin Luther King Junior. We begin with his birth and the path he takes leading to his march – foreshadowing his success and his death. As we progress through this book, we are introduced to Martin’s children and the success he has accomplished so far. However, the death of a black garbageman leads to those who are tired of persecution to stand up for the black community. This community calls for Martin Luther King Junior to stand up and help them achieve what they want – freedom. Days pass on and the great protest march soon approaches. Martin is scared and nervous, but is willing to fight for his people; even if it means death. Martin decides to march, making the protest march a success for colored people alike. However, things take a turn for the worst when Martin is shot and killed just a few days after the march. We then follow the journey Martin Luther King Junior’s wife and children make to honor his great name.

lately, I have been noticing that a lot of young students do not remember what the holocaust was. So, I think this field trip would be a great way to help my students remember and understand more about the holocaust. They get to see several images of survivors and Nazi generals, explore replicas and real-life artifacts, and get to read about survivors. Overall, this would be a great place to help my students understand the significance of the Holocaust.
