He finally didn't hold in his emotions, and he let it all out. He is entitled to have his own feelings, and he is allowed to tell people how he feels. He shouldn't have to follow in his fathers foot steps, and he can pick his own path. I think his strength is the fact that he is stubborn just like his father, so he can hold his own when is a fight with him. I think his weakness is his kindness. The whole song is him talking about how he misses her and how he is going to honor her everyday, with every decision he makes. He is going to live his life in honor of her. This relates to Cory, because he just lost his dad. Some people follow what others say, and others go their own way, and do what make them happy. 
For example, Lyons asks his dad to loan him 10 dollars, and his dad says no at fist, because Lyons "doesn't have a real job" and Lyons responds with "You got your way of dealing with the world . . .
I got mine. The only thing that matters to me is
