It’s easy to fall into a siloed approach to DEI where focus is only given to one attribute of diversity in isolation. I love when our DEI sessions include mention of intersectionality (such as gender, race, ethnicity, social class, religion, sexual orientation, ability, and gender identity). It’s important to address a nuanced mix of disadvantages and advantages relative to systematic power dynamics because this approach leads us to celebrate and value individual differences - to see and change those dynamics!

With the knowledge that 1 per 3000 births experience themselves differently that what is prescribed by some in society, it is amazing that so few countries and states provide opportunities for all to feel seen, valued and heard .

I already had a good understanding of everything in the video, but it did lay out sexuality and gender in a very digestible way and I think it would be helpful for educators and parents to learn to understand gender and why it's important
