Santiago I.M.#29

I enjoyed visiting Trabuco Elementary School. I learned many things such as why beavers slap the water with their tail. The beavers make dams. They never stop working on their dams. they build the dams to make a pond and then enter there homes from underneath I also learned why some shadows may appear bigger and how the angle affects it. I observed how shadow changes based on the position of the sun and the rotation of the earth. I learned about a chemical reaction and a physical reaction. The odor may change if it is a chemical reaction. If the way it looks or changes form that means it is a physical reaction. Even if matter has a chemical change the mass stays the same.

I found out as the time changes the shadow either gets longer or shorter. That even though one star is brighter and father away it does not look as bright as the star that is closer but not as bright. I also learned that beavers use stones, moss, and sticks to create a dam that doesn't let water come through. I also learned that things can have a physical change or chemical change by mixing them together. Even if matter has a chemical change the mass stays the same. The law for matter staying the same is called the law of Conservation Matter. Also if you are near a light and there is a blank wall your shadow will be big and fuzzy shadow but if you are closer to the wall your shadow will be smaller and clearer to see.

When I went to Trabuco Field Study, I learned all about science and the different ways to use it. One way was that you can take the rising stuff that you put in bread to make it rise up and put it into a mixing cup. Then you put in in Hydrogen Peroxide and mix it until the bread stuff dissolves. Then when you get a water bottle and fill it with vinegar, you also put dish soap in it and it should be changed in color. Once you mixed the two, it should explode inside and go everywhere. But the temperature in it should change also, and it should get really hot.
The next thing that I learned is that a beavers are actually really smart. They use moss, rocks, and sticks to make dams and want their water or pond to be deep. The reason they want it deep is because when they see a predators they can go under water into their lodge.
We also made our own dams with real moss, sticks and rocks! We had clay also to make it stick. But we made our own dams so that we can learn how to make dams, and see how hard it actually was! But we had a challenge to make the water pressure slow and we timed it! The time I got was 4:35.

Also how you can make beaver dams using regular woodland items how beavers build their dams like (Sticks, clay, as mud, and rocks). We also learned about how to measure shadows and how the sun makes moves the shadows and makes them bigger or smaller. Then we learned The law of Conversation matter which is how camacles reacts to other camacles. Finally we learned how to make camacles to make a reaction with the different types camacles.

At Trabuco I learned many things. One thing I learned is how beavers make their beaver dams. It was cool how we got to build our own beaver dams and see how one really works. From the beaver dams I also learned how much work beavers actually put into thier dams. Another thing I learned is how phiycical and chemical reactions are caused. I liked how we got to make our own little experiment with our groups. One other thing I learned from the science experiment is that you can get things from your kitchen and do experiments with that like baking soda.

The reason we went there is not only for fun and games but to also remember the information they told us about because we will be having a science test in two weeks. The activities that we did were about gases, air, nature, and light measurement. We also had lunch recess and we all even got to watch and pet the animals. An animal that we learned about the most was the beaver. What I learned about the beaver is that if they eat trees their teeth become orange. Another thing I learned about beavers is that they make dam's to slow down the water.
