    • Maybe do it yourself with danish historical events/people.

In 8th or 9th grade this is a good novel to cover, because the main character is around the same age as them but (hopefully) living a different life than them.

Focus on crime as a theme and family as a theme.

My practicum class is 4th grade, which means it has to have some pictures to support the reader. It could be about different types of sports, so they get general knowledge of different types of sports, instead of digging deep into one specific sport, because that can get a little too complicated.

ICC ideas for projects:

Discussion and Reflection: After each chapter or section, have group discussions where students can share their thoughts, questions, and reactions to the material.

Journaling: Have students keep journals to record their thoughts and reactions as they read.

Research Projects: Encourage students to research South African culture, traditions, and current events, which can provide a broader context for the book. 

Creative Projects: Engage students in creative projects related to the book, such as creating artwork inspired by South African culture, writing short stories from Trevor's perspective, or preparing a presentation about South Africa.
