How to study

I started to have an effective study method only after starting university.

when I was a high school student I didn’t study much, because I did not like the school I had chosen and I did not like the teachers, therefore I was very unmotivated.

My method of studying was to read and repeat a couple of times the day before the exam. I could always get good grades or still the

sufficiency but it was not a good method.

When I started university, I had to find a way to remember a lot of information.

I found my study method by comparing myself with other students in the course.

Now, to prepare an exam I need 15/25 days and I usually study from books and the notes taken during the lessons.

I feel good to summarize the information in schemes or concept maps, after doing this I repeat aloud for several times.

I am a person who is easily distracted, therefore I turn off the phone and do not use any background music.

to limit the distraction I use the "tomato" technique which consists in dividing the work in intervals, 20-25 minutes long, separated by short breaks

My happy place

We define as happy place a memory, situation or activity that makes you feel happy.

I believe my happy place is in general spending time in the nature, more precisely in the mountains.

I have always been in love with mountains. I used to go there every summer with my family or friends, an therefore, many happy memories that I have are indeed from experiences or holidays that took place in the mountains.

The feeling that I get when I'm there is really hard to be described.

It makes me feel small but also in control of myself and my life.

When I get there, and I start walking in the pure nature and woods I always think about how many of my problems are not as deep as I thought they were. Walking in the deep wilderness of the woods also makes me resonate on how to possibly solve some of the issues that I have.

The feeling that mountains give to me is undescrivible.

It might be presumptous but I would compare it to the feeling that some romantic poets had, as a matter of fact, when I'm there I do feel like a "viandante sul mare di nebbia"

UNICEF is the United Nations Children's Fund. Their mission is to contribute to the survival, protection and development of the potential of every child, with particular interest for the most frail and vulnerable. Their action is inspired by the values of the Convention on the Rights of the Child and Adolescence, the

Charter and the main human rights treaties.

Unicef was funded on december 11th 1946, at the end of world war 2 because they wanted to help and support all the young people devasted by the war, without considering any other purposes, such as political or religious matters.

During this sad historical period millions of European children suffered from the lack of milk, food, medicines,

blankets, shoes and in many cases also a roof over their head

there was a need to find a way to bring peace back to the world, a new collaboration between nations and unicef has helped in doing all this.

Today UNICEF works in over 1 undred and 90 countries around the world, including Italy, with the goal to protecting the rights of the most defenceless , girls and boys.

Communicate across cultures

In 2019 I was lucky enough to participate in a world rugby tournament that was held in South Africa, precisely in Cape

Town. The tournament lasted only a week but it was a wonderful experience because I could meet guys from all over the world.

My team stayed in a college near the fields, and we shared the bedrooms with South African and New Zealanders guys.

Personally at the beginning I struggled to communicate with boys of other nationalities because my level of English has always been low but I remember that after the third day I could understand it and I could speak a little better.

I have become attached to the athletic trainer of my team that helped me a lot in communicating, also since he was South African he explained the culture and history of the country.

One evening he told us that in South Africa there still are forms of

racism and discrimination against black people, for example there

are colleges exclusively for white people.

It's sad to know that after apartheid there's still inequality between people living in the same country. To me, it is a weird paradox how in South Africa, a state in wich the white man represents no more than the 15-20% of the population, racism is still alive. I have been in SA five years ago, so I really hope that maybe within the years this phenomenon will vanish.

The most beautiful memory I have of this experience is when, during the final party of the tournament, the New Zealand team, after drinking 3 or 4 beers, got in the middle of the street and performed the famous dance called Haka. For any rugby player it is a unique and exciting experience.
