The Aztecs gained lots of power from its agriculture and it is what sort of shaped their civilization. They grew crops such as corn, beans, and squash on “floating gardens” called chinampas made by putting mud on huge mats made of woven reeds and placing them in the lake – farming on soil. They had a powerful king and often conquered other tribes, having a centralized government and taking captives and tribute from weaker tribes. This is how the Aztecs maintained their power and control for a very long time.

City-states, similar to those of the Greeks, located in Central America, would go to war to gain tribute, power, and payments. They would maintain power over their people by sort of distracting and amusing them with human sacrifices and astronomical information. With their mastery in agriculture and architecture, they truly were an amazing empire.

The Inca civilization, famous for the city of Machu Picchu, was a fascinating environment. They had over 2,500 miles at their height and encompassed parts of Colombia, Ecuador, Chile, Peru, Bolivia, and Argentina, truly showing their power. They were big in agriculture. Used mita labor as mandatory public service to the empire(seen as tribute to the empire). Miltas' labor was good for keeping power over its people. Overall, Machu Picchu at its peak was a flourishing civilization.
