The government made rules about STD's for women and no publically talking about the war or you would be arrested. These rules positively affected the war because it kept their soldiers healthy and ready for war at any moment.

But once Britain entered the first World War, their government became more democratic. Because of the large need for manufactured goods during the war, the working class (Independent Labour Party) became better organised and more powerful during the war. The majority of the people who were not in the war at the time were working in factories or fields. And once all of those people were becoming more powerful, their government was also becoming more powerful.
