In Social Studies this Quarter we learned about the impacts of the African Slave Trade on the founding of this country and are currently studying the causes, history, and outcomes of the Revolutionary War.

In Science, we have completed our Chemical Magic unit, where we learned about different Chemical Properties and tested different Chemical Reactions. In one experiment, we tested to find out what happens when you mix baking soda and vinegar together in an airtight container. We are currently in our Earth Science unit. We will learn about the Earth's rotation, seasonal patterns and changes, constellations, the moon phases, and gravity.

In Reading, we have been reading our novel study book, Sophia's War. This book connects to the Revolutionary War and what we are learning in Social Studies. We just started reading different types of biographies as our new unit.

This Quarter in Language, we have been hard at work writing our Informative Essays. I have spent the month learning and writing about how to write essays. We focused a lot on writing a strong introduction, a strong thesis statement, as well as good topic and concluding sentences. We also have had a lot of practice with grammar; including conjunctions, interjections, prepositions and different verb tenses!
