It is for the country's declaration of independence from Pakistan. On the night of 25th March 1971, Pakistani Army brutally committed genocide on unarmed civilian Bengalis in the name of "Operation Searchlight". On the 26th of March, Bangladesh's independence from Pakistan was declared by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the nine month long bloody liberation war was commenced. After colonization from British Rules in 1947 East Bengal School Textbook committee was formed with a view to develop textbooks. Then in 1954 textbook law was passed and based on this law, an autonomous organization named ”School Textbook Board” was established. Thereafter 1956,1961,and 1963this organization had been restructured in different manner. After the liberation in 1971, when the independent Bangladesh had been established from 1972 to 1977, according to the necessity of the state “Bangladesh School Textbook Board” has been revised and rewritten the textbooks for grade I to X for all subjects. In 1981, National Curriculum Development Centre (NCDC) has been established for developing national curriculum.
