Before doing an interview, it is always important to gather information about the person you are interviewing. Here is what I discovered:
Henry Drummond was born on November 10th, 1984 in San Francisco, California. However, he currently lives in New York, but he travels around the United States a lot for work. Drummond is a defense lawyer, and he has worked on many famous cases throughout the years. He particularly loves taking on challenging cases, like when he defended Bertram Cates in the town of Hillsboro. He is also an agnostic, and an avid defender of Darwin's theory of evolution.

“I read all genres of books! I read a lot of non-fiction, either biographies, or science books. I love learning about science or history, I mean, I love learning in general, but these subjects are always very interesting to me. I also enjoy readin fiction. I recently read The Secret History by Donna Tartt and I really enjoyed it. It's a mrder mystery, which is always fun to read, but what I really enjoyed is that all the characters are morally grey, which I always like in a novel, because I think no one is black or white in real life. ”

It might be unoriginal because they are very popular, but I really like Bach and Mozart. Their pieces really help me get into a productive mood. I normally listen to what's playing on the radio when I'm driving though. I don't really have a preference when it comes to music.”

5. Are there any quotes you live by?

“Of course! There is this one quote I try to remind myself of every day : “ Success is never final, failure is never fatal. It's courage that counts.” It's a quote from John Wooden, and I really like it because being a lawyer, especially a defense lawyer comes with many successes, but also many failures, and it's easy to be discouraged, but I have to remind myself of what I'm really trying to do, which is break barriers, make the law more just and try to make people see things differently. Even if I lose some cases, I still might have changed some people's opinion in the courtroom. There is another quote I really love. It comes from the book Our dark duet by Victoria Schwab, which is a great book! is very long, but I think it describes really well humans in general, and I remember reading it and being touched by it. It goes: “As for the humans, they were still divided—by anger, and loss, fear, and hope. Progress was being made, but August was coming to realize that there would always be cracks in the surface, shadows in the light, a hundred degrees of grays between black and white. People were messy. They were defined not only by what they’d done, but what they would have done, under different circumstances, molded as much by their regrets as their actions, choices they stood by and those they wished they could undo. Of course, there was no going back—time only moved forward—but people could change.
For worse.
And for better.
It wasn’t easy. The world was complicated. Life was hard. And so often, living hurt.
So make it worth the pain.” I work with a lot of different people, and some have done things they shouldn't have, and this quote is just a reminder that we are all humans. We have good and bad qualities, but it is normal, and neither people nor the law is 100% black or white.”

8. What are some your favorite movies or TV shows

“I don't have much time for television or movies, but my favorite series has got to be Game of Thrones. I think it's a great escape after a long day. The characters are ruthless, and I love the medieval aspect of it. I also think the supernatural elements are fun. The cinematogrphy and acting are also incredible. It's all around a great show, and I'm very excited to see how it's going to end. My favorite character is definitely Tyrion, and I think it's because I relate to him a lot. He is a dwarf, so he is often misunderstood, and he is an outsider in his family, a little bit like I often am in court. He is also very intelligent and honorable. He isn't afraid of sacrifice for what is right. At one point, he said, “ I trust the eye of an honest man more than I trust what everybody knows.” I think this quote applies really well to the way I feel about Darwin's theory of evolution, because I would rather believe in something that someone saw and proved, that stories that don't make sense, but that a lot of people believe in because that is what they were thought to do. Of course, he was talking about an army of zombie-like creatures, but I just think it also works in this situation. I have also been really enjoying the TV show The Good Place recently. I love the way it subtly makes fun of religions and their perception of heaven. It also explores philosphy and morals in a very comedic way.”
