How would you define technical communication?

Where do you see the use of technical communication and/or technical communicators in the world?

What images, examples, stories, etc. come to mind when you think of our discussions of technical communication in this class?

I would define technical communication as professional writing with the audience of the communication being peers in the field, or people whose work relates to the field closely.

I see the use of technical writing in many places, but most often in the workplace. Memos, emails, reports, all of these are technical communications.

A main example i think of is a memo as it is a very broad technical communication. Another example i think of is scientific journals because they are meant for peer review and contain technical jargon and professional writing.

Technical communication is the practice of conveying complex information clearly and concisely to a specific audience. It involves using communication tools like writing, visual aids, and multimedia to effectively communicate technical concepts, instructions, and information.

I see the use of technical communication when I work in the pharmacy. We are always collaborating with doctors and other healthcare professionals as well as patients to ensure appropriate care is given.

When I think of technical communication I think of the man who lost a company a lot of money due to a simple error. Image wise I always think of a fax machine and office space.

tech comm is a way to communicate or describe something to people who need to know what something does or what the purpose of that product is.

I think you can use it in many different fields but mainly in a business aspect.
