It is important to discuss with students the repercussions of their online actions. Most of our students were never taught how to successfully interact online, and can quickly get themselves in trouble. Our students don't think that they can be tracked down, or held responsible. They need to know appropriate ways in which to interact with people on the web, and this lesson gets them to think about the consequences of their actions.

Often, students are taught how to do this in the school setting but fail to realize the repercussions of their actions when engaging in online activities with peers. Students need to be made aware of the different types of Cyberbullying and understand the seriousness it entails; especially when there are so many cases of this behavior in the news.

This lesson brings in several opportunities for students to connect with cyberbullying through prior knowledge, and discussions. The use of the case studies allow students to see the different ways cyberbullying happens and how to address it in different situations and that cyberbullying doesn't happen in just one way. I think that it is a great way to make the connection with their digital footprint and the appropriate use of technology for learning.

The lesson on cyberbullying I think is an important one for our students, especially with the direction we are heading technologically. The video and personal experiences from the lesson I think address fears that most parents and students have. I think it should also be clear to students that cyberbullying occurs from people they are close to more frequently than from strangers.

What actions/words that many students may shrug off as not a big deal, could be considered cyberbullying. It is our job as educators to teach our students how to use technology appropriately. The lesson is effective in bringing in students' prior experiences with cyberbullying as well as allowing students to analyze specific case studies. In the end, I do believe that students will be better equipped to determine what specific behaviors are deemed bullying.

It is very easy with today's modern lifestyle to get distracted with things like technology. I find that people, especially kids and teenagers, do not seem to realize that the actions they take online have reactions from other people. It is really easy to hide behind a computer screen and forget that there are other people out there that have responses and feelings to those actions, whether good or bad, that occur online. Having a sense of empathy and concern over how your actions affect others is crucial to becoming a responsible and sensible adult.

We have to make sure the students understand the proper ways to use technology and tell them what is appropriate and what is not. We also have to be consistent with the consequences given to the students who violate the rules of using technology.

I looked at the Feeling on Display Lesson for 9 - 12 grade. I think it could be a good lesson to teach high schoolers in order to make them think about what they are posting on social media. They are getting to the age where employers might look at their social media and we want to make sure they are representing themselves in a positive way. This lesson helps to guide important discussions for a whole group.

I think this lesson is extremely important to go over with our children. There are too many sick minded people online who attempt to target children. This lesson is valuable to address these concerns with children and help them know how to deal with these issues if they encounter them.

I think it's important for students to learn to be upstanders and not bystanders in cases of cyberbullying as these incidents can lead to offline confrontations and serious mental health issues for the targets of cyberbullying. These events may not involve the schools directly initially but often spread through students and schools which impacts the learning environment.

I chose the lesson "How Technology Makes You Feel," for first grade students. I chose this lesson because it explored the various feelings students can experience when using technology. With having to rely on remote teaching and technology for distance learning, it's important for students (and teachers) to understand that there must be a balance with technology and to learn how to self-regulate when it may be making us feel a certain way. It's also important for students to understand that it is okay to experience their feelings, name their feelings, and talk about them with someone.

Now is very important to have a balance between screen time and family time due to the uncertain we are force to be on the computer the majority of the time but is very important to set times when to be on the screen and when is time to take a break and do other activities.

I chose the lesson Device-Free Moments for second graders. In a world where technology is always in your face, I feel it is important for students to understand moments where it can be a distraction. One of the videos had the characters getting upset because the Internet went out. I have heard those screams/panic a lot in my household. Students have seen the no texting and driving ads, but there are other times to be device-free. I like the idea that the lesson gave with coming up with rules for devices at home. One could be no device at the dinner table to encourage social interactions and show students that they care about the feelings of others. No one likes it when someone keeps looking at a screen instead of paying attention to the people that are right there with them. I like the take home portion of the lessons to help parents continue the discussion.

Teaching students the importance of being safe while using technology is a skill that should be learned from a young age. In a world that is dominated by social media it is especially important for students to learn how to protect themselves and those around them. The lesson I chose was the 6th grade lesson about chatting safely online, which helped students understand who it is safe to talk to online and who it is not safe to talk to (i.e. if you don't know them, it is not safe). One concern that I had was that in the example technically the student was connected to one of the people they were talking to by someone else, so they still didn't know this person and that could be a problem in the future.

This is something that needs to began at an early age. My students love the challenge of playing with others using technology and not understanding the dangers that may come with using the technology as far as talking to other people. By analyzing how well they know the people they interact with online can be helpful to ensuring their safety. By understanding exactly what types of information to share is extremely important and to be able to recognize red flag feelings can help them stay safe.

I thought that the lesson is a great one for kids to experience because all people at some point will experience feeling left out and alone. I think that the lesson does a great job of giving kids a chance to reflect on how they can solve the problem of feeling alone when their peers are posting to social media. I like that the kids within the video were all different shapes, sizes, and colors. I think this helps all kids relate to others like them. I would be concerned that students who are trying to act cool would shut down and not think about how social media affects them.

Some students use it to disengage from the learning environment when lesson assignments are difficult/challenging. Coming into the role 6 weeks after the start of the school year there are a lot of my students that do not follow being responsible during independent lesson that are planned on the Chromebook. The grades reflect as such also often many students receive below average grades on assignments. I'm thrilled to start using the lesson plans especially the pledge. It is from the 3rd grade but a basic review can be very helpful with reinforcing the main concepts. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. 4th grade teacher

The lesson begins by prompting students to discuss what AI bias is and how it occurs. It then introduces the idea that AI bias arises when training data is inaccurate or incomplete. The class engages in a scenario-based activity using the Trick-or-Treat AI student handout, allowing students to reflect on the consequences of AI bias. The lesson concludes by encouraging students to consider actions that can be taken when noticing or experiencing AI bias, emphasizing the importance of reporting bias to improve AI products. Additionally, negative impacts and consequences of AI bias, such as unfair treatment, perpetuating stereotypes, limiting opportunities, and spreading misinformation, are discussed to foster critical thinking about responsible AI use.
