Throughout the poem, the poem focuses on time and how fast time goes when we aren't paying attention.
Sylvia Plath has used several examples of symbolism and motifs throughout "Sonnet: To Time" that really set the emotion, mood and tone in the poem.
An example of a motif used in "Sonnet: To Time" is "Time is a great machine of iron bars"
In this quote Sylvia Plath was showing and explaining how time is like a prison and that you cannot escape it.
When you think of time it passes by slowly, but when time is not thought of time tends to move by faster.

A clock represents "Sonnet: To Time" because in the poem the main focus is how time moves very fast. A clock is used in order to tell the time of the day and it also tells you how much time has past.

The song "Yesterday" by The Beatles is similar to "Sonnet: To Time" because in both the lyrics of the song and the poem they both talk about how time passes by so quickly.

Throughout the poem "Sonnet: To Time" I think that the mood is sadness and simply strange.

I feel this way because Sylvia Plath talks about death and sadness and sorrow alot in the poem, and it seems sort of strange that she talks alot about death.

I connect with her in her poem when she talks about how time flies super fast, I simply feel like time flew by very fast in my life and it seems like yesterday I was just starting elementary school and now I am graduating next school year and it's so hard to believe.
