To respond to this topic, I have mixed feelings about the experience I had last semester with the attachment of academic writing.

To trace back, I started learning writing in Chinese when I was in the age of primary school. A bulk of what I wrote about is more likely to be prose with casual, freely stated ideas to describe and tell feelings about particular views, people, and so on.

However, acquiring the way of academic writing afterward prompted me with a pop-up of well-displayed structure, a sense of usage of formal language, and also the objective, clear, brief statement to be clearer and more factual.

Although I maybe familiar with some of the ideas about academic writing, to reach the stage of practical usage in my essay, it do require more practice and adjust by myself.

In the article "Should AI help Georgia write college admissions essays? , written by Vanessa McCray and published on The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, 2023.

The article mainly discusses the attitude of education institutions towards the AI and terms being implemented.

McCray began by stating how students use AI tools like ChatGPT to moderate their responses for college applications. Schools could not avoid making strategies to encounter cheating and hazards after the release of ChatGPT, 2022. Unlike many, Georgia Tech allowed it to be constraint assistance. Other elite institutions, such as the University of Michigan Law School and Duke University, have taken different means. Students like Riley Samples and Abby Hyken proposed that the content of AI-generated platforms was too strict and emotionless. However, its capabilities as a tool were recognized by several campuses. In the future, the ongoing challenge of detecting their content, the need for moral guidelines, and individual responsibility in the college admissions part are recommended.

What is academic integrity and what is plagiarism?

According to Monash University, academic integrity is defined as "acting in a way that is honest, fair, respectful, and responsible in your studies and academic work. "It implies the ethical behavior to develop authentic ideas.

Plagiarism:

the process or practice of using another person's ideas or work and pretending that it is your own

(Cambridge Dictionary)

Why do laws and rules about plagiarism exist?

The regulations about plagiarism exist to protect authors, scholars, and individuals who publicize their contributions of ideas for their copyright and intellectual property, and innovation for original work.
Quote analysis: "Poverty is the parent of crime." (Aristotle)

1. What do you consider the main idea of the quotation?

From my viewpoint, the main idea from the quote that Aristotle tried to indicate is the initial drive of criminal offence is from poverty and eagerness to change life conditions or to pay back what he/she suffered to society by some extreme means that brings negative consequences. Since some people think that the world is unfair to him/her, and the most effective way is to treat others harsher, then the world would be fair, they could gain something materialistically from the behaviour.

2. Do you agree with this main idea? Why or why not?

I partly agree with this main idea, since the cost of poverty is too high. Broadening it into a global aspect, poverty is intolerable with an increased likelihood of war, it is beyond unjustifiable that different poor countries are urged to possess more resources. it is a global responsibility to eliminate all forms of poverty. However, other factors do affect the occurrence of crime such as stress from the same generations, conspiracy "behind the back" and so on.

How well did I apply the knowledge I've learnt?

I did not apply the knowledge I've learnt well to develop in the research process, between paragraphs, the construction of sentences with clear purpose and coherent connection was not presented. Furthermore, I could not judge whether logical fallacies were avoided in sentences and paragraphs.

 2. What are the obstacles I've encountered?

How did I come to solve them?

There were many obstacles, such as the difficulty of dealing with so many sources I've found and researched at the same time within the period, it also consumed time and mass efforts to interpret and transfer them into your research to support your thesis, it was also prominent to make consolidate bond between the supporting statements and the main idea, that was one of the obstacles. It is undeniable that I did not solve the obstacle quite well. At the same time, it was unstraightforward for me to refresh my mind during the process at some points to continue writing when I was planning to ensure the relativeness and continuity presented consistently.

 3. Did I fully meet the requirement for Academic Integrity?

I checked the matching between the in-text and appendix and asked the teacher when I was confused. I also paraphrased the found work well( probably).
