As a senior in college, my transition into the workforce is right around the corner. In today’s rapidly evolving digital age that we are in, I believe learning how artificial intelligence is shaping the workforce is essential. I want to enter the workforce with as much knowledge about the use of artificial intelligence as possible. Furthermore, I believe knowing the functions of AI and how to use it as a tool is not only beneficial but will make me a better candidate when applying to jobs. Additionally, showing employers that I am eager to learn about how AI is changing the workforce will also show that I can adapt to change quickly and efficiently.

I will be graduating with a degree in Business Management with a concentration in Marketing and have done much research on how AI is now being used in the Marketing field. Therefore, I wanted to start branching out my knowledge to other industries, particularly entertainment. Artificial intelligence is changing the entertainment sector with new capabilities such as, creating more personalized experiences on streaming platforms, content creation, and game development. As someone who subscribes to multiple streaming services, I have always been curious on how companies have the capability to tailor to every individual so precisely. With millions and millions of subscribers, these platforms are still making personalized recommendations to every user.

On my Padlet Wall, I will be diving into AI in entertainment, focusing on streaming services like Netflix, video game development, and content creation, including AI generated music.

Have you ever wondered how Netflix’s recommendations are always on point? It is almost as if they know exactly what type of shows and movies you’d enjoy watching. Netflix has over 282 million subscribers across 190 countries and still manages to learn about all of its users (Antonyuk). Due to its number of subscribers one of the platform's biggest challenges is trying to learn about each user to enhance user experience. However, this is possible through the use of an artificial intelligence system that guides its users to their next favorite show or movie (Antonyuk). 75% of Netflix users are watching shows and movies that were in their personalized recommendation section which shows how AI is contributing to Netflix’s success (Antonyuk). Netflix uses machine learning not only to provide users with recommendations lists but also to find the most cost effective location for shooting Netflix productions (Antonyuk). When Netflix films an original production they use AI to determine where the best location is based on factors such as weather, cost of production, and other factors that help decrease costs. Using artificial intelligence benefits both Netflix itself and its users because providing personalized recommendations are keeping users more engaged and on the platform for longer. Additionally, users are also saving time looking for something to watch when Netflix provides them with a list of shows that align with their interests (Antonyuk). As a Netflix user myself, I can proudly say that Netflix is my favorite streaming service solely because of the amazing recommendations that it makes to my account. I can tell the algorithm has truly learned what types of shows and movies I like to watch which make my experience on the platform more enjoyable. Have you ever played a game that felt so real where characters respond dynamically to your actions? Game developers have integrated artificial intelligence to create more realistic game environments. According to an article by Rapid Innovation, artificial intelligence in game development refers to the simulation of human intelligence processes by machines, particularly computer systems, to enhance the gaming experience (Anglen). One of the technologies used to do this is Non-Player Character (NPC) Behavior AI where the system governs how non-player characters interact and respond to the player (Anglen). This creates a more immersive and realistic environment while gaming because it is providing a more challenging experience without direct intervention with human control (Anglen). Games that are equipped with this AI can generate the characters to interact in complex dialogue, show emotion, and create actions that align with the story line of the game itself (Anglen). The implementation of AI in game development has made games less predictable with an enhancement of storytelling, keeping players more entertained. However, AI algorithms are very complex and require a certain level of expertise that not all game studios have (Anglen). Additionally, implementation of artificial intelligence in games raises concerns about data privacy and creating addictive behaviors (Anglen). This is why it is important to not let AI completely take over but combine it with human touch. Artificial intelligence is a great tool and it has revolutionized the world of gaming for developers. Growing up I would always play Minecraft with my cousins and to see how AI has helped it innovate and develop into what it is today is truly incredible. Artificial intelligence music generators are changing the way producers and artists are creating by using innovative tools like Hydra II, AIVA, and Mubert (10 Ai Music Generators for creators in 2025). Machine learning such as generative adversarial networks (GANS) and an artificial network called recurrent neural networks are what make these tools possible to use for music creation (What is AI music and how does it work?). According to an article by DigitalOcean, the generator will analyze patterns, genres, and structures in existing music to compose original melodies (10 Ai Music Generators for creators in 2025). These tools provide advantages for artists and content creators because with AI music generators they can reduce costs by not having to pay for an actual studio or hire a musician. Additionally, AI music generators are composing music much faster than a human would, saving time and allowing creators to focus on the project at hand (10 Ai Music Generators for creators in 2025). However, it has been shown that the use of too much AI can start to sound repetitive. This raises concerns with music generators as they are all analyzing the same existing music that is already out on the market. I think this tool would be more effective for content creators who simply need background music for an intro of a video or post. However, I do not find this tool to be as beneficial to a music artist as fans want to hear music that was originally created by a human and is going to evoke emotion. As a dancer, I listen to music everyday and I pay the most attention to the lyrics because I am always looking for ways that I can relate to them. Artificial intelligence has proved it is only going to keep evolving and the opportunities are endless for what it can achieve. Tech reporter, Michelai Graham, predicts that AI’s influence on music and entertainment industries are going to deepen in 2025 (Graham). There will be a lot more productions powered by artificial intelligence, as AI not only has the ability to generate full story lines but also clips and movie scenes. Film group, Stars Collective has already partnered with tech agency, HashMatrix to produce AI generated productions and will be hosting an AI film festival this year (Graham). They plan to release 12 short films all generated by artificial intelligence, marking the first ever screening of AI generated short films (Graham). This shows how it is already in the works for the use of AI in film production. Additionally, this makes it easier on producers by reducing need for actors, finding locations to film, and set equipment.

However, the use of artificial intelligence raises ethical concerns, such as authenticity and deepfakes (Panel®). Although AI is a great tool and is revolutionizing various sectors, it will always lack the authenticity and emotion of human creativity. With the increased use of artificial intelligence, it is easy for it to start sounding robotic and repetitive. Humans naturally evoke emotion when storytelling because we feel them first hand. Personally, I try to steer away from using AI too much as it lacks human touch that is often noticeable. Maintaining authenticity with use of AI in content creation is challenging, which is why it is essential for humans to take part in the creative process (Panel®). Another concern is the misuse of deep fakes, where AI generated replicas of actors or public figures are created without their consent (Panel®). This is scary because AI has the ability to make someone say something that they have never said before. This could not only harm the reputation of public figures but also lead to legal disputes (Panel®). With the increased use of artificial intelligence in the entertainment industry, these are issues that must be addressed to ensure appropriate use of the technology.

The rapid growth of artificial intelligence has contributed to reducing the time it takes to complete tasks that once took hours to complete. Producers no longer have to spend hours reading scripts when tools like Script Book are available to predict how each script will do in terms of commercial success (Sanhita Mukherjee). However, this is scary for those already working in the industry because it raises risks of job displacement. According to Talent Desk, a report predicts that artificial intelligence will impact 62,000 jobs in the California entertainment industry alone (Sanhita Mukherjee). Even more alarming, many of these companies located in California have already reported that 75% of jobs have been reduced or eliminated due to AI (Sanhita Mukherjee). Many companies are turning to artificial intelligence because they are saving a lot of money with not having to pay employees a salary. Positions in 3D modeling, character design, sound editing, music editing and script writing are most vulnerable to automation (Sanhita Mukherjee). As an aspiring professional in the Marketing and Media industry, this is very scary to hear and unsettling because I don’t want to accept a job that could easily be replaced by AI in the long-term. This is not only alarming to myself but the rest of those in my generation that are also entering the workforce this year. Furthermore, this is part of the reason why I want to make sure I know how to use AI effectively. Not only that but I also plan on embracing this change and use AI as a tool that enhances my skills and adaptability.

While researching how the entertainment industry is implementing artificial intelligence into their sector, I discovered its uses, benefits, and risks. AI has the potential to grow the entertainment industry as it reduces the time significantly to complete tasks. The more it proves to be capable to complete everyday tasks, it also threatens traditional job positions. It was hard to find credible sources that also had the depth of information that i was looking for; however, i am happy with the sources i did find and used. This research has enhanced my understanding of AI as I have now learned to not fear it but instead embrace it and learning how to adapt to it. I have also come to the realization that artificial intelligence is here for good now and it is not going anywhere; therefore, it is in my best interest to learn more about all it has to offer. This understanding motivates me to learn more about how industries like Entertainment, Marketing, and Media are using AI tools.
