The cover clearly states the theme, an orange stripe with white writing calls attention to the title and name of the book. The dark background also ties into the theme as it is covered in gray phrases that students would say (ex. "we're the cornhole dream team." They also use quotation marks around all the phrases to show that they are dialogue, which the title establishes.

Theme: Based on the True Story. Throughout the book, they used the word "story" in their headlines and mods. They also included stories from actual students across the bottom of every page. They also wrote alternative stories that were just giant quotes about a student's experiences. Throughout the book they connected their school's past to the present school year by including reflections from seniors, pictures from previous years, and stories about events that occurred in the past.
