My inspiration for this project was the small microbreweries and wineries that are growing in this area. I like how many of them pull from the local geography for their company and beverage names. One example is Rush River Brewing Company. I grew up in Kinnickinnic State Park outside of River Falls, WI. The river is very important to me and people in the region, so this was the area that I wanted to
feature.

I was inspired by the simplicity of packaging designs such as the Saranac Black Cherry Cream Soda. I liked the big lettering with minimal graphics with the nice solid background color.

I was really drawn to the color scheme of the Cherry Dr. Pepper packaging.

1. Design ideas can morph over a multi-step project. As I worked through this
project, I found myself wanting to go back and change the earlier parts of the design
package because my original plan for a label didn’t transfer how I thought it would to
the bottle holder.

2. I have a better appreciation for how to work within the Adobe Suite of products. By the end of the project, I was using Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign to fine-tune images and get the desired look that I wanted.

3. Creativity ebbs and flows. I had moments when I just could not get any design ideas that were in my head to come together as a design no matter how long I kept at
it. Once I would finally walk away or just do some looking online for inspiration, I
would hit a point where the creativity would come back, and the pieces would fall into place.
