Many designers are shifting their designs to be more gender-neutral and inclusive as the younger generations like Gen Z break down preconceived notions of gender. 

Since as we mentioned, Gen Z’s shops in the section of the opposite gender around 56% of the time, retailers and designers are starting to have to shift their strategy to appeal to their younger audience. 

As we can see from the contrast of the past idea of gender neutrality and the present, there is quite a radical change in the definition of what it means to be gender neutral and what a gender neutral garment is. We can only think that with the rise in awareness regarding gender equality and LGBTQIA+ rights becoming more normalized, societal norms will continue to be pushed in new directions. 

Many think of fashion as an art form that can be used to create messages on the current state of the world or the world that we should move towards. This Direction fashion is now aiming to push the gender-neutral agenda to the masses and; as they always try to do; disturb societal norms. 

Some western examples of designers we should all be keeping our eyes on who are doing gender neutral fashion and other forms of gender neutral products are: Gucci, Tommy Hilfiger, Bottega Veneta, Noto Botanics, Jecca Makeup and Burberry.  

A non- western brand to look out for who are gender neutral are Bosie. Founded in Hangzhou, China in 2018. They heavily advocate for equality in fashion. Bosie explores fashion suitable for people of different genders, ages and regions. 

We hope that fashion keeps embracing the gender-neutral trend as it becomes more and more popular since it is the reality of the future for many industries. We can only wonder what changes we will see in the fashion industry and its relationship with gender neutrality, but we are ready to see that change.

for society that challenges traditional gender norms. This style does not cater to the stereotypical

feminine or masculine aesthetics which can be seen through the neutral silhouettes and styles.
