Learning Intention: Today we will explore research-based frameworks for designing technology-enhanced learning experiences to promote student agency, voice, choice, and ownership in secondary classrooms.

Relevance: So that we can move from passive technology use into powerful tools that connect our future students to meaningful learning experiences that prepare them for post-secondary success.

Success Criteria: We will know we are successful when we all have:

• Identified which research frameworks best apply to our subject area and can explain why in our own words

• Transformed a lesson//task into a high-agency design using specific framework elements (voice, choice, ownership) using artificial intelligence as a thought partner

• Reflected on how student agency might look different in our specific subject area compared to others

Articulated one key insight about the connection between technology and student agency that we'll take into our future teaching

You will choose and rotate through 2 of the 3 stations, to become knowledgeable about essential frameworks that can support you in designing lessons and tasks with student agency at the center. (Everyone will participate in Station 2. 1 and 3 are your choice)

Each station is designed with a different learning approach to help you deeply understand how to create conditions for student voice, choice, and ownership in secondary classrooms, leveraging technology.

Station Rotation Schedule

• Round 1 (20 minutes):

  • Group A - Science/Math/Physical Education (5 people) at Station 2

  • Group B - ELA/World Language/Professor (4 people) at Station 1 or 3

• Round 2 (20 minutes):

  • Group A moves to Station 1 or 3 (choice)

  • Group B moves to Station 2

Your Goals

By the end of this phase, you should be able to:

• Describe 2-3 key ideas related to technology infusion and student agency from the protocol, plan or rubrics using your own words

• Identify at least one way to support student agency through voice, choice, ownership or technology

• Give one specific example of how these frameworks could guide you in developing tasks that allow for student agency in future classroom

• Share insights about how different frameworks might complement each other
