RĂZVAD SECONDARY SCHOOL, ROMANIA

RĂZVAD VILLAGE, ROMANIA

RĂZVAD - according to a local tradition, the name of the village evokes a crossing point, emphasizing the importance of the roads that passed through here. Răzvad is one of the oldest villages in the county, being remembered on 17.XI.1431 when Alexandru Vodă Aldea donated it to his foundation from Dealu, exempting him from taxes; the document states that the village was "next to the monastery, under the hill". under the hill From later documents (10.VII.1614), however, it appears that Alexandru Aldea had only donated to the Dealu monastery the princely Friday (donation of wine). In the same century, the 15th century, other owners appeared in Răzvad: on 29.04.1453, the Bolintin monastery had a vineyard in Răzvad of Dariuţa de Filos (Pilea), the logofat of Mircea the Elder, which shows that the village existed during his reign.
Starting from 1914, a series of oil companies existed in Răzvad, which in the interwar period made significant profits.
The school in Răzvadul de Jos was established in 1838, when it functioned in the council house. In 1844 the school had two rooms and a hall. In 1920, the girls' school was established, which operated in a premises with four classrooms, with the headmaster's residence. After 1942, a school museum, a library and a school cooperative were established at the boys' school.
The Răzvadul de Sus school came into being on September 13, 1843, when classes were held in the teacher's house since the school building was not finished. In 1930, 45.1% of the inhabitants knew how to read, a very high percentage compared to other villages.
In Răzvad there were several old monuments, as well as the houses of Socol Cornaţeanu from the 17th century - the Church of Răzvad 1643 - 1644 (the temple of St. Nicholas). Marula, daughter of Mihai Viteazul and wife of Socol Cornaţeanu, was buried in this church. The church was repaired by the warden Scarlat Greceanu but was then demolished.
- The cross from Răzvadul de Jos, of medium proportions, was erected by Castea, the daughter of Socol Cornaţeanu, great clucer (1641 – 1644). It was very probably erected on the occasion of the construction of the church in Răzvad (1643 – 1644), whose patron it bears.
- The cross from Răzvadul de Sus was erected in 1648 by Socol Cornaţeanu, on the site of a wooden church.
