         <description><![CDATA[<div>Max Weber's Bureaucratic Management Theory was created to help improve decision-making skills and to protect the workers from managerial exploitation. <br><br>The theory argues that authority needs to be based on a set of clearly defined rules rather than people.<br><br>Bureaucratic management theory strives to be impartial. Instead of the whims of the administrator taking over the decision-making process, there are clearly defined rules that the administrator has the authority to interpret and enforce.  <br><br>This allows for the law to be equally applied to all workers.          <description><![CDATA[<div>The founder of Bureaucratic Management Theory is Karl Emil Maximilian "Max" Weber. <br><br>He was born in Germany in 1864 and died in 1920.  <br><br>Weber was an economist and sociologist. <br><br>He saw a need for a change in managerial style due to the changes that were happening within society. He saw a need for objectivity within the workplace. <br><br>He tried to create a system that provided stability, efficiency, and equality. <br><br><br></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>Division of Labor and Specialization<br></strong>The theory encourages a work environment where employees are hired on their merit. People work toward degrees and licenses that will qualify them for certain positions<br><strong><br>Managerial Hierarchy<br></strong> All rolls are overseen by a superior. This way everyone has someone to answer to and no one goes unchecked. <br><strong><br>Formal Rules and Regulations<br></strong>There are clearly set procedures and expectations of everyone within the hierarchy. This allows for a higher rate of efficiency within the workplace. <br><br><strong>Formal Selection<br></strong>All hiring, firing, promotion, etc. are based on employee performance. This prevents personal feelings from interfering with decisions in the aforementioned scenarios. It also protects employees from irrational or unstable administrators. <br><strong><br>Impersonal Social Relations<br></strong>Nobody is above the law in Bureaucratic Management Theory. All decisions are ideally made according to the rules <strong><br><br>Career Orientation<br></strong>This system encourages employees to stay within their profession and improve upon their craft because they know that stellar performance will be rewarded. </div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Bureaucratic Management works wonderfully in theory but is inefficient in practice. <br><br>When practiced, leaders become too focused on following the rules and do not allow for extenuating circumstances. <br><br>This leads to the system being very rigid for the employees. Subsequently, the inflexibility ends up harming them by not dealing with certain matters on a case by case basis. <br><br>A successful organization must have rules, but those rules must serve a specific purpose as well as have exceptions in certain situations to protect employees.<br><br>Due to the criticisms of this theory, we do not see it applied in a school setting very often. Effective school systems need to be understanding of specific employee needs, and the Bureaucratic Management Theory does not exemplify that.  <br><br></div>]]></description>
