They planted trip wires that would set grenades. They would put a box over poisonus insects so when they get knocked over it becomes dangerous. Once the US figured out their tacktics they trained soldiers to go into the tunnels. There was limited food, water, and air. Becuase the tunnels were underground they were filled with snakes, insects, small rodents, and poisonus spiders. During the day, Soldiers would rest or work on the tunnels. When they came out at night it was to tend their crops or find supplies. People would spend days in the tunnels if it was not safe to come out because of heavy bombing.
