Summary of NexStride

The NexStride medical device allows for patients diagnosed with Parkinson's disease to ambulate without having periods of "freezing gait." Freezing gait occurs in many patients with Parkinson's disease due to an unknown phenomenon of a patient’s brain not appropriately coordinating the movement of the legs. NexStride helps prevent this by placing a green laser on the ground to guide the brain on where the leg should be placed for the step. Additionally, NexStride has a metronome to nudge the brain into taking the next step timely. The green laser and metronome all have adjustable setting for the desired length of each step, pace of stride, and volume of metronome. NexStride helps create a better quality of life for Parkinson's patients. https://www.medgadget.com/2020/08/nexstride-helps-overcome-freeze-of-gait-in-parkinsons.html

Opinion of NexStride

My opinion of NexStride is that it can give many patients diagnosed with Parkinson's disease a way to slow the progression of their disease. Exercise is a key component in slowing the progression of symptoms of Parkinson's. With a way to prevent freezing gait, patients can exercise more and get around easier. These can lead to a healthier and happier life for patients suffering from Parkinson's disease.

Using Strengths

My top five strengths are relator, competition, deliberative, context, and analytical. The competition and deliberative strengths will empower my team to have effective communication and consistent innovation on methods to include the NexStride in my facility. The relator will allow for information to be generated efficiently throughout the facility about the product. Lastly, the context and analytical strengths will allow for the evaluation of the NexStride in the facility and to determine if the NexStride will make an appropriate addition to our facility. However, I will need to create a team that will further exemplify these strengths in order to accomplish these goals.

My team will consist of Emily, William, Pablo, Chelsea, & Abraham to be on my team. I chose Emily because her top strength is Empathy and empathy will be needed to understand the struggles patients with Parkinson’s disease deal with every day. This will help determine if patients would truly benefit from the NexStride. Second, William and his strength of "woo" would help woo the hospital administrators reviewing the adoption of the NexStride in our facility. Third, I would choose Pablo and his strength of positivity. Whenever team members were struggling with a task and feeling discouraged about finishing the project, Pablo would help restore life into the team’s spirit. Fourth, I would choose Chelsea and her strength of command. Chelsea would take the role of leader in the group in my absence. Lastly, I would choose Abraham and his strength of achiever because Abraham would work hard to make sure the task was completed by the due date and ensure the presentation was ready to present in front of hospital administrators.
