有一天，狐狸虽然被老虎抓到了，但是它想到一个办法，就跟老虎说：“你敢吃我？天帝（tiān dì）已经说了，我是野兽的王 （yě shòu de wáng）！如果你吃我，天帝一定会气得不得了。”

老虎惊讶，不过没相信狐狸，所以狐狸说：“如果你不相信，你可以跟我一起走，所有的动物一看我就会跑。”

果然，每个动物一看到狐狸就跑了，因为它们怕被狐狸后面的老虎吃掉。看到每个动物到处跑，老虎相信狐狸说的话，把狐狸放走了。

“狐假虎威”这个成语的意思是“利用别人的势力来欺负别人。”
