Broken Promises, is a great impact in a child's development and how they see their parents.

Broken promises is what the Wall's kids had to live with in their early childhood this quote really empathises it. "Have I ever let you down?" he asked Brian and me and then turned and walked away. In a voice so low that Dad didn't hear him, Brian said, "Yes".
This picture of the word promises broken in half sends a strong message and is a reflective when Rex stated that no kid of his should ever go hungry, when in reality the kids were always in desperate need of food. This is an example of Broken promises.

Fantasy vs Reality- Creates false hopes for the kids that will never come true.

The fantasy vs Reality in the Glass Castle is really the majority of the book. the kids are told by the parents that they are in a adventure to build a glass castle when in reality Rex runs away from money collectors. This quote really show it "When Dad wasn’t telling us about all the amazing things he had already done, he was telling us about the wondrous things he was going to do. Like build the Glass Castle. All of Dad’s engineering skills and mathematical genius were coming together in one special project: a great big house he was going to build for us in the desert." The picture above really shows how one side of the tree really looks nice but the reflection shows the reality. This is an example of fantasy vs reality in theme.

The unconditional love between Jeanntte and Rex and how much Rex relys on Jeanntte not loosing faith in him is a key point in the love that Jeanntte has for her father no matter how bad he was as a father. This quote really shows it, "I think your the only one who still has faith in me" "I don't know what i would do if I lost it" This picture of a father and a daughter is a great depiction of the Bond that both Rex and Jeanntte have. This is an example of Unconditional Love in theme.

Chaos and Order-Different events that change the chaos in a story

Chaos and order is how the Glass castle starts and goes along the whole book, Jeanntte and her siblings didn't know at anytime in their childhood what was to come, this quote really shows how their childhood went. “I lived in a world that at any moment could erupt into fire. It was the sort of knowledge that kept you on your toes.” This quote shows how the kids life at the time seemed normal to be on the go all the time and at anytime. The picture I choose shows two signs of order and chaos that connects Chaos and order in theme.

Coming of Age- A point in age where some one is responsible for themselves.

The coming of age came sooner than expected for Jeanntte, as her mom tells her in the story, Jeanntte is responsible for cooking for herself and old enough at the age of 5 years old. "Mom says I'm mature for my age," I told them, "and she lets me cook for myself a lot." I choose this quote for this exact reason, at the age of 5 she is expected to cook for herself which leads her burning herself badly, The picture of the stove sends a strong message to one of Jeannttes early memories of her burning herself cooking hotdogs. The picture itself connect to the coming of Age in theme.

Forgiveness- Forgiving some one for their mistakes

Forgiveness in the novel doesn't apply to some in the book but Jeanntte no matter how horrible Rex was as a father she to this day forgives him and doesn't look back, Even to her mother Rose Mary. This quote really shows how Jeannte feels about her father Rex. "As awful as he could be, I always knew he loved me in a way no one else ever had" The picture above is a great depiction of a father and daughter holding hands, No matter what the love between each other will never fade away.
