This picture of the word promises broken in half sends a strong message and is a reflective when Rex stated that no kid of his should ever go hungry, when in reality the kids were always in desperate need of food. This quote really show it "When Dad wasn’t telling us about all the amazing things he had already done, he was telling us about the wondrous things he was going to do. Like build the Glass Castle. "Mom says I'm mature for my age," I told them, "and she lets me cook for myself a lot."
