A Short Introduction

Hello guys so like a lot of people my goal is too lose weight ! It's always been difficult for me especially after a surgery I had in 2010 which left me bedridden for a long time and I still haven't been able to recover from it the way I need to! I was born with Cerebral Palsy (cp for short) a neurological disorder which mainly affects my legs but a little in my hands too.

Having this makes me very tired very easily and the added weight does not help in the slightest so I know I need to get it off! Also in the summer I have a very important duty to do as a bridesmaid and I want to look my very best! I've tried so many exercises well as many as I'm able and I get bored very easily! :)

Last year, I was literally thrust into the world of K-pop and I never came out lol but in all seriousness it intrigued me! I understand that in America the popularity of k-pop while still growing is still a rarity among the listening ear of the American! If someone were to ask the question "What is k-pop?" The majority of Americans would either answer with "What is that?" or the popular song Gangnam Style by Psy :)

While I admit the song is catchy. I ask myself why did he make it big when there are so many better k-pop groups out there with songs way better?

~Infinite

_ Shinee

_Super Junior

_Girls Generation and that is only a few! My introduction into K-pop was through listening to Infinite. Their dancing to be exact. It makes you want to get up and move. This was one of the first videos where I saw them dance where I was mesmerized, amazed and wanted to move with them. Just look at this practice video and tell me what you guys think! There are seven members and it is incredible how they stay in sync! I've tried to dance to this (not pretty) but that is one of the things that make k-pop so good it makes you get into it and move which is important for exercising!!

Well that is all I have to say for now! I hope to hear from all the readers!!

When beginning an exercise regiment! I'm beginning to realize how important it is to really work yourself into it 100% which includes physical and mental preparation on your part. I mean it is not hard to go into a gym and do a vigorous workout for an hour, or eat right and begin to feel accomplished but slowly you begin to fall off the wagon by not going to the gym for a workout or slip off your diet! Once this happens you feel badly and begin to beat yourself up. I've done this a billion times which really crushes my low self esteem as it is. The thing that I am learning is three important things

1. Don't Feel Bad: After all we are only human. We are going to crave things and slip up every once in while. When that happens don't begin the beat yourself parade instead recognize what you did. Learn from it and continue to succeed! Don't let slip ups be the end of the world for you

2. Learn Moderation: Moderation can be your best friend if you let it! No seriously it can. When talking about fitness there seems to be an automatic signal that we have to diet and give up everything we love to eat! Personally, I hate the word diet because it seems to create a division between eating the food you like and having a healthy body! When the word diet comes up people immediately think you need to be rid of the foods you like I was also under the assumption and it was not pretty. The cravings got so bad that I ended up on an eating binge which is a lot worse. To get in shape it is not necessary for a diet. Moderation is the ultimate key to success

3. Listen to your body: Believe it or not your body does have a voice! Putting yourself in tune with your body can help you decide your Wants/needs your body automatically knows when it needs food when it is at the empty and when it is full. However our mind can play tricks on us by sending hunger signals when it is not necessary! How many times have we

~eaten because food because it is in front of us

~ eaten food due to bordem

~eaten food due to feelings and need of comfort

I've experienced bouts with all three and felt like kicking my own ass afterwards! I physically have berated myself "like why do you do this to yourself? I simply wasn't listening to what my body had to say! I had my mind elsewhere! The truth is I like food damnit" but I cannot let it control who I am!

One of the fantastic things I found that put me on a good start is a site called My Fitness Pal It is a great site for recording daily food calorie intake, exercising routines, and short diary/memo intakes! Especially with friends it is a great place to begin a healthy fitness program!

I hope that my readers read, enjoy, and help me with this transformation :)

Love too all

Leelee

Week of Failure: Not doing so great?

Happy Monday everyone hope all is well! Let me start off by asking you guys a simple question "What keeps you unmotivated from doing a workout regiment? For me it is too things 1. I tend to slip off the wagon and 2. When it comes to exercising routine I can only do so many things. My feet have never worked the way I need/want it too and after the surgery I went through two years ago the bones in my ankles are fused together so there is no movement anymore the way normal people move their ankles and I have to say it pisses me off severely! This week was not good as far as an exercising regiment goes but it has taught me too look at a few things

Don't be Unrealistic in your goals or it just pisses you off: This is a lesson I learned very quickly last week! As you all know or may not know I enjoy listening to K-pop J-pop and J-rock that music can make me dance like nothing else and I enjoy it. Last week I thought that I could follow the dance routines because the music and dancing will give you a workout. As I watched the dance tutorials and attempted to do them yes, I said attempted I would get so frustrated that I couldn't even keep up with the slowed down steps that I literally broke down and cried! I know that I am beyond blessed and lucky to have been born with only a mild version and believe me I count my lucky stars however if there is one thing that gets me legitimately upset it is the fact that I love dance always have but can't do it the way I want too! Even so, getting upset about it will not help my situation so I'm going to have to adapt! Luckily I did come across a Zumba K-pop video to one of my favorite songs!

Zumba is just now coming into popularity in South Korea and this video I think is perfect for me to do! The moves seem really simple and the song is fun to dance to! So I'll try it out and let you know how it is going in the next installment!

What to do about your cravings: One thing that hinders me about this whole thing is the cravings I have! Most of the time I can deal but there are Certain Times I believe girls will know what I mean? So when you get these cravings what do you do? I'm still trying to figure out how to go about this! Any Tips from you readers would be most helpful :)

Figuring Out the Essential Problem areas: Before I began this blog I wasn't quite sure how I should go about checking my progress! I've seen blogs where people use photo and video diaries or just write about them ! I'm very camera shy and unphotogenic by nature and I think adding my weight makes me even more embarrassed! After speaking to my best friend I decided to wait until I've reached my goal and then do a before and after photo! For the rest of the time I will talk about it!

I think my frame is best described this way! Small on top, heavy on bottom! Which for my height of exactly 5ft 0 in does not seem so good! My problem areas are mostly in my thighs and legs which is not so great when you have a disablity which affects your legs! I have a pouch in my stomach and my sides need work!

So dear readers This is where I need your help! Any types of exercises you could find that would help these problem areas but are helpful for me I would very much appreciate it!

This week was not so great! I hope next week is better <3 always Lee-lee

Hi guys

I haven't updated in awhile! To be honest I haven't been working out like I should, but now my efforts have increased ten fold and it was all thanks to a best friend sister of mine! For anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge fangirl of anime, J-pop J-rock and more recently Kpop

Listening to songs by groups like Infinite, ShiNee, Super Junior Girls Generation and many more (I could go on forever) make me feel energized and happy! My best friend knows this and attempts to understand it so I don't feel so lost in the world! She knows how badly I'd want to dance, sing, and be a fangirl! So guess what? She's giving me a chance to be one :)

She is an awesome photographer so with her awesome help I will be part of a K-pop photoshoot where I can really let my fangirl ablities shine through and take awesome photos!

I like K-pop because:

It makes me so happy and pumped up to listen too

I love their ability to dance (I've always wanted to dance but the complications with CP made that very hard, difficult, and frustrating)

I would like to build up my confidence and look awesome and cool in these photos!

and now I get too!

Not only that, I've been able to rally a couple of my friends to participate in the shoot as well! The whole thing has made me happy, excited and overwhelmed to the point of tears! That they care about me so much, know how important it is, and are willing to do it for me!

So lately I've been motivated! doing my very best in exercising even if it is a little doesn't matter! I'm doing what I can handle! Because even though I won't be down to my ideal weight in a month at least I'll be headed that way and that is important! So I'm working hard and really can't wait to do this shoot with these amazing girls! They don't realize how very grateful I am for this! Ready to dance, sing, and just have fun!

Yay!! <3 <3 <3

Reviewing Bad Eating Habits

One thing that becomes a major roadblock when trying to to lose weight is our eating habits that we just cannot let go of because we fall into a routine that is hard to let go of. Down below is an article which I have pasted inside this entry for you all to read and think about!

Title Nine Bad Habits That Make You Fat

When you’re working long hours on the computer, running from one business lunch to the next and traveling nonstop, your diet and fitness goals sometimes get derailed in ways you don’t even think about. By running from one event to another and having days packed with meetings you may be unintentionally harming your health and keeping on extra weight. Here are 9 ways you may be sabotaging yourself without even realizing it.

Bad Habit #1: Eating Low Fat Foods

Foods that are labeled low-fat or fat free can save you a few calories, but they do this by replacing fat with sugar and other chemicals which are WORSE than fat. They digest more quickly, leave you with a sugar crash and leave you feeling hungry faster. The best approach is to eat with nutrition in mind. Remember: A low-fat donut is still a donut!

Bad Habit #2: Skipping Meals

Say it with me: SKIPPING MEALS MAKES YOU FAT and is one of the worst things you can do for your body and mind. Your metabolism slows down, and you’re much more likely to overeat later in the day. The American Journal of Epidemiology found that people who cut out breakfast were 4.5 times more likely to be obese. Rev up your metabolism by eating small portions of nutritious foods throughout the day – for breakfast, 1 cup of greek yogurt & berries are a fast, nutritious option. If you’re on the go, snack on a handful of pistachios or edamame. These will keep you full and satiated for about 200 calories.

Bad Habit #3: Eating Too Quickly

I’m definitely a victim of this. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone for sushi at 8 and was finished by 8:05! I had to train myself away from this habit. A study from the University of Rhode Island found that those who ate slowly ate 1/3 less than those who ate fast. Your stomach takes 20 minutes to tell your brain that you’re full. Every meal should take you at least 20 minutes to finish. Try and chew your food 20 times in each bite and pace yourself.

Bad Habit #4: Watching TV while you eat

When you watch television, you’re not fully concentrating on anything else that you’re doing, and this includes eating. Researchers at the University ofBirmingham found that people who were distracted while eating a meal ate more snack food afterwards than those who were paying attention – most didn’t even remember all of what they ate!! Statistics also show you eat 5-10 times more when you eat while watching TV. If you’re going to snack while you watch television, snack on cut veggies or portion 2 cups of air pop popcorn and don’t refill. Frozen grapes are also great; it takes about 20 minutes to eat a cup.

Bad Habit #5: Taking Big Bites

I do this and it works: cut your food into smaller pieces, use a smaller fork or spoon. You increase enjoyment and take longer to eat, which increases your satisfaction. The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that people who took large bites of food consumed 52% more calories in one sitting than those who took small bites and chewed longer!

Bad Habit #6: Having Overweight Friends

If your friends or spouse overeat you’re 57% more likely to overeat too, according to research from theNew England Journal of Medicine. I am NOT suggesting you cut ties with your overweight friends! Instead of going out to eat, plan social activities. You’ll have more fun together and burn calories instead of packing them on.

Bad Habit #7: Avoiding the Scale

Accountability is one of the best things you can do for your body, and a scale will help keep you on track. Stepping on a scale every other day keeps your goals and accomplishments fresh in your mind. Other ways of staying accountable? Smart phone apps that can help you track your diet programs, like Lose It, and tracking your calories burned with a heart rate monitor like Polar’s FT4, or a pedometer that counts the amount of steps you’re walking.

Bad Habit #8: Eating “Filler Foods” at Restaurants

Filler foods can be anything from the complimentary breadbasket they put on the table, to the pound of mashed potatoes that come with your skinless chicken breast. Here’s the thing, those ”Filler items” are very cheap and it’s disguised as either a value added at the beginning or a generous entrée. The reality is, it’s neither! Those things can add an additional 500 calories to your meal without even blinking. Ask your server if you can get cut veggies instead of the bread and a side salad instead of the potatoes or rice. Trust me; your waistline will thank you!

Bad Habit #9: Not Seeking Health & Fitness Advice

By you reading this article you’re going in the right direction. Reading about exercise and diet makes you more likely to improve your exercise and diet. Researchers in Canada sent diet and exercise advice to more than 1,000 people. Those that read the advice began eating better and working more exercise into their daily life. A little reading goes a long way! Just try following me on Facebook or Twitter, you’ll see. ;)
