I will be digging into how times have changed and how they will continue to change throughout the years. My question is: How has social media affected our culture, values, and way of life.

Social media seems to set the standard for what girls should supposedly be. Although many of these girls are photo-shopped and unrealistic.

I believe these are very negative and must be suppressed to protect the self esteem and image of any female or male person.

Social media can be labeled a distractions and can be prohibited in certain instances, such as work. Once again another negative effect of social media.

Although social media is distracting it can also be useful in finding information about employees and their personal life. This would be particularly helpful when dealing with a new employee. This may seem violating but it gives a better feel of a new-hire.

Sports
Marketing

Social media is just as the name implies, media, or news. We all know the prominent use of spreading news via social media. There is one particular type of news that many fail to realize and that is sports.

Sports pages use the media vastly to spread their information. They raise awareness about anything from giveaways to upcoming matches, and ever updates as to how a sporting event is going. It has become an industry that relies on social media to successfully thrive.

However, many would have to say otherwise. Social media is said to in fact make our youth less social, and more anti-social. Stuck in their rooms with nothing of interest other than social media.

In my opinion I would both agree and disagree. When I view social media I am not on very long and am not so much attached. Its my way of checking the news or whats going on amongst my friends. I do believe others can take it to far, and can become addicted.

The bustling lives of others we like and scroll through are nothing more than curated alternate realities masking flaws and banalities barely different than our own. For young people, social media might not even be that social at all.

These views are held by the editors of this article, as well as myself. I agree that social media seems a lot let social than the name implies. It could very well be causing an epidemic of antisocial habits rather than social habits.

Education
Study

One reason social media is so popular is that it allows people to personalize the way they experience and interact with the Web. Tools like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram used to be almost exclusively used to take a break from academics, but social media is increasingly being leveraged as a study tool. This can be done by creating a study community.

This seems like a fantastic idea once looking further into it. At first glance, from the title, I thought yeah right. and most social media websites might not be very academic oriented. Although websites can and have been created for people to get together as a community to help each other study or better understand any material. This could be hugely beneficial to most.

To others, it’s a buzzword with no practical advantages and a steep, complicated learning curve.

Marketing or advertising via social media is an incredible new ability for companies. It is a rather cheap form of advertising and can yield amazing results if done properly. Although many have adapted to ignoring most ads as there are so many everywhere and they sort of all begin to all run together in my opinion.

Additional studies have cited the negative emotional impact of loneliness.

I agree with the fact that human beings naturally are very wanting and needy of another humans contact.
