My most recent experience with active learning was when I learned how to change the oil on my car. My dad talked me through the whole process while I did all the hands on work. I think it was probably the best way for me to learn how to change my oil because I will remember doing each step at least once. I also had a similar experience when learning how to file my taxes. My mom sat next to me the first time I filled everything out and talked me through each step

One example I can think of for constructive learning is when I had to give a presentation on a work of art for my art history class. I had to articulate my knowledge of art historical terms in order to convey the information I needed to present. I could still pull up my powerpoint and walk someone through it, since teaching someone a topic is the best way to fully learn it.

This is probably my favorite of the five learning characteristics because I learn best when I can talk through a concept with other people. One example of my experience with cooperative learning was in our last IDT class we got into small groups and discussed what we got out of the article we read, and I found that really helpful because I was reminded of points that I had forgotten.

Intentional (Goal-directed/Regulatory

The one example of goal-directed learning that I can think of is researching information for a project/paper. Which happens to be one of my favorite activities, and I tend to spend way too much time reading through way too many sources while researching. I think that intentional learning is important because it has the weight of something being done with purpose with automatically makes it more meaningful.

I took a statistics class, and I learned so much about how to use Excel spreadsheets to put together charts and things to track not only probability but I also learned how to set up an Exec spread sheet to use as my budget. While I may never use the techniques I learned in that class to perform a scientific study or figure out the probability of Marco rolling a six twice in a row, I will always be able to use the knowledge that I do have of Excel to put together a spreadsheet for so many things. In the future I could even end up using Excel as a grade book.
