I have found a wonderful website with many wonderful PBL options for lesson plans. This incorporates many great thoughts to educate students on e-cigarettes and vaping. Below you can find the attached link for reference. Project-Based Learning is beneficial by allowing students to see relevance and incorporate their learning into their own personal lives.

Students are given a scenario in which they work in groups to find a solution to the problem. This for example, could be a program they need to develop in order to help educate students on drunk driving. This program would need to be appealing to students as well as informational. The goal is to draw students into your program and help them to discover the dangers of drinking and driving. The problem could either be decided by the students themselves or prepared in advance by the teacher.

Inquiry-Based Learning

Attached below is an inquiry-based learning example. This example starts with a question to student about how important is it to manage our stress? This opens up opportunity for class discussion and gets students interested. This then develops more and more throughout the discussion by the teacher by completing the learning model through working in small groups, making predictions, investigating and researching, all to provide further understanding on stress management while allowing students to remain interested and engaged.

It is crucial as teachers that we promote digital literacy. I understand ta as teachers we want students to know that there are more technologies out in the world to use besides games. With this focus, as teachers, we often do not utilize games and other learning quizzes already prepared for us on the internet. I want to show the importance of technology, while also providing low stakes opportunity of assessment through games and activities that will help engage student learning. I have attached a website below that helps test health knowledge of students of all grades.

Structured Academic Controversy

This is my favorite model throughout all models that I have found. This is a structured debate for a lack of better words, that allows students to see both sides of the situation or topic, respectively, and allows them to gather as much information as they can before drawing their conclusion on the topic. This allows for students to practice open-mindedness in the classrooms for students to grow and make decisions based on evidence, not feelings. This allows for balance on controversial issues. I can see this incorporated into almost every single lesson that we talk about in my content area. Health is controversial. It always has been and it probably always will, but through this means of education, students will be able to gather the data in order to make and educated decision and stance.
