Disney is a studio which produces films and tv shows.Disney's % of the market share increased to 30% when Avengers infinity war was released.A few examples of disney's competitors are sony pictures , 21st century fox and time warner. They dont have such a high percentage as disney. 21st century fox hold 11.4% and warner bros hold 12.9%. Their top competitors are News Corporation, Time Warner, Dreamworks Animation and Viacom. This market structure is called an oligopoly. It means that there are a limited amount of sellers. Disney's actions significantly affect the market. Cross media is a type of cross promotion were promotional companies commit to surpassing traditional advertisement techniques and choose to include extra appeals to the products they offer. Disney are cross-media as when they release a film they also release things like toys in fast food meals, lunch boxes and bags. vertical integration is when a company owns every level and layer are owned by the same company. synergy is when another company promotes another company. Disney are vertically integrated because they can make profit by only using companies owned by them . They are able to produce , market , distribute and produce there merchandise only using there own companies. An example of how they are vertically integrated is high school musical 3. To produce the film they used walt disney pictures. For distribution they used walt disney studios motion pictures. To market the film they released songs on radio disney to give a preview of the songs from the film before it was released. A few examples of how disney uses synergy are when they promoted the avengers on the cover of ESPN magazine. They did this by putting NBA looking players/teams paired with some sort of object/person associated with the Avengers. Also the movie tron has a song by daft punk on their soundtrack which was released by hollywood records. Disney will make profit from the movie in theaters but also by records sales through Hollywood Records. In film Disney own marvel . in tv they own disney channel and espn

In the media we need to be aware of social issues such as race. We need to be aware of this so that nothing will offend people in film , tv or radio .etc. because of it being racist. we also have to be aware of issues with gender people have to make sure that content made isn't sexist in anyway. religion is also another social issue people have to be aware of. content made must be racist towards are certain religion or discriminates against religion.organisations follow specific professional codes of practice to make sure people know that they dont discriminate against people and that they believe everyone is equal.

Broadcasting act 1990 :
This is a law which was done by the government to make a legal framework on the electronic communication which contains a provision on the regulation of independent television, sound programme and other services provided by TV and radio. Pirate radio is when a radio station broadcasts without a license. Two examples of pirate radio stations are radio Scotland and radio 390.

Race relations act 1976:
This act was done by the UK government to try to stop discrimination against people of different races. It is important for the BBC and other media agencies employ and promote people from diverse backgrounds because this means it gives people equal opportunity's to be in the media industry. Also so that they dont come off as racist.

Copyright/intellectual property law : The copyright law allows people to claim there work as there own and make sure people cant claim someone else's work as there own. It meens people have to ask permission to use the product before actually using it. An example of how the copyright law would be broken is if someone uses a photographers photo and claims it to be their own or if someone uses a song in a video without getting permission. The intellectual law controls ownership and accessibility of inventions and ideas on tangible and intangible concepts. The main way to protect ownership of ideas or products is through using copyright or trade marking.it is important for TV Shows to have a level of originality so that they cant be accused of copying someones idea. This would break the copyright law. An example of something that could cause a TV show to need to sue another company for copyright would be if a TV show stole an entire segment for a game show/variety show and didn't make any changes to it so that the idea wouldn't be exactly the same as what they stole it from.

ASA are the Uk's independent regulators of advertising. They have to make sure that adverts have stuck to the advertising guidelines and that they are appropriate. They are able to ban adverts from being shown if they don't meet the guidelines. An example of an advert that was banned by ASA is the mcdonalds advert about a dead dad. it featured a young boy asking his mother what he had in common with his deceased father was inappropriate and insensitive because it used bereavement and grief to sell fast food. there were also complainants of how proximity of the ad being aired around Father’s Day.

Time keeping: This is an important quality to have as good time keeping means that everything should go to plan and run smooth. Nothing should fall behind schedule.

Attendance and punctuality : This is extremely important because if people dont turn up to film it could effect the making of the tv show and make it fall back in its schedule. It would also affect the rest of the team working on the tv show as they would be a person down meaning this will run slower.

Communication skills: This is an important skill because it means that the production team can work properly and there wont be any miss-understandings or problems with creating the tv show.

Self respect: It is important to present yourself well in the way you dress, talk and act because it could effect weather you get a job instead of your competitor. For example you are not likely to make a good impression if your dress in casual and scruffy clothes, if you swear 24/7 and use slang. Also if you do something stupid and unprofessional in front of the people you want to work for or in a previous job.

Time management: This important in the media industry because as it will mean deadlines will get met and everything should go to plan.

Team work: It is important as it allows the production to run smoothly and there will be no problems. if there wasn't any teamwork it could cause the production to fall behind.

Contract types: There are a few different types of contracts in the media such as : free lance , part time , full time and fixed term. An advantage of having so many different contract types are that people are able to pick a contract which best fits there lifestyle. A disadvantage of this is that some contracts would mean your better off in money terms and what you are able to do than other types of contracts.

Voluntary work: This is a good way in gaining a job in the television sector as it shows future employers that you are enthusiastic and are serious about getting a job in the industry. It is also away to move up in the industry. After doing voluntary work in the tv sector for a while you are likely to get moved into an actual paying job as they know your skills , that you are committed and that you are suitable for the job. An advantage of working for free for the company is that you have experience when applying for a future job and the company are more likely to employ you. A disadvantage is that your doing the work but you aren't getting paid which means you will also need to get a part time job as well as the volunteer job.

Were as men are usually dressed to look smart and posh by wearing suits. In the first cover it has rihanna dresses in a low cut see through dress.were as in the second cover Chris pine is seen wearing a suit . I also found that men are seen as more important than the women and that the women have to rely on men. Examples of this are these two covers. The first one with the women clinging onto the man. The second one has the women lower down in the picture and the men above suggesting she is less important and they are more important
