They face a Majapahit attack and had been defeated. After the Portuguese attack Malacca in 1511, the Malay flew to Singapore to make a new capital land.
Source 2 supports the point as it shows "At the inception of a British settlement in Singapore, Sir Stamford Raffles and John Crawfurd, the second British Resident of Singapore, found many vestiges of a much older settlement."
Source 3 also tells me that Singapore has became a modern country now,
Thus, it can be observed that the history of government in Singapore did not start from 1819, as Malay rulers ruled the island before the coming of the British.
