1. Talking with friends

Talking with friends over facetime really helps me relax and catch up with people that I don't always get to see. I laugh a lot which reduces stress.

It can be sometimes difficult to follow through with talking to friends because COVID prevents us from getting together and our lives are busy with schoolwork and extracurriculars. The best thing to do is not force a time to talk, just let it happen naturally and when you both have time, you can talk.

Exercising keeps the mind a body healthy. Burning off some of the stressful energy can calm a person. They can sweat out their anger and frustration about life and also do something good for their body.

It's difficult in today's time to go to the gym, but I've started working out from home every morning before school. I can get it done early in the day and not have to worry about things. It's a perfect start to the day and puts me in a good mood.

Sometimes just relaxing on the couch to watch a movie or a tv show can give our minds time to rest and take a break.

With people having busy schedules there's not always enough time to sit on the couch and stop working. An idea for giving yourself time to relax is taking some time on the weekend to focus on reducing stress and forgetting about work.

When the task is complete, cross it off the list. This gives you a sense of organization and satisfaction.

Therapy can be a great outlet for letting out your stress and also finding strategies to minimize it. Instead of talking to a friend or family member, a therapist is a professional who can analyze your problems and help guide you to success.

Therapy isn't free and it takes up time, but if you set an appointment once a week, or even once a month, stress can be relieved much faster than holding it in and not talking.

The best thing the school can do is to be more understanding of kid's mental health. Students are faced with so many pressures and stressors and the school needs to understand that sometimes we need a break. A mental health day or even a twenty minute break from class can relieve so much stress on us.
