The person on the $20 bill should be a great person, not someone who forced Native Americans out of their homes and on a long, awful journey based off of his own personal prejudice against Native Americans.

Document 1, Question 2- The main motive for the Indian Removal Act was manifestdestiny. Jackson wanted the U.S. territory to stretch from coast to coast and that is why he moved the Native Americans to Oklahoma.

The Native Americans were removed from their homes and were forced to move a long distance away, with a trip that lasted 4-6 months. During this time, about 70 people were born, and almost 450 died. Once the Remaining Native Americans reached the destination, they were overcrowded and uncomfortable.

Assessment #2- In this lesson, we have not learned to rethink Andrew Jackson's position on the twenty dollar bill. Even though he has done some bad things, he has done them for the betterment of the country. Some could argue that the Native Americans are not his citizens, so he was just helping his people gain more territory.

There were many rivers along the way that disrupted their travels, they had no shoes or blankets. The painting "The Trail of Tears" displays the depression that the Indian Removal Act caused on Native Americans. The dark clouds show that, and the guns show that they could not trust anyone.

Assessment #2- No, we have not learned enough about Andrew Jackson to rethink the idea of him being honored on the 20 dollar bill. The Indian Removal Act was something that could have made people he was mean and petty, but he knew it was for the benefit of the United States of America. He did not care what others thought of him as long as U.S citizens were happy with his decisions. He wanted more room for U.S settlement and believed in manifest destiny, the belief of territory from coast to coast. In conclusion, Andrew Jackson was selfless and an influential president and deserves his honor on the 20 dollar bill.

This Act expanded the wealth and population of the United States. Jackson's past experience helped him make decisions in the future that benefited the United States.

Andrew Jackson does not deserve to be on the 20$ bill, while he has done a great deal for the common man in our country, he let his experiences get in the way for a decision he made and chose badly. Andrew drove out thousands of Indians because of his prior fights with them when he was in his youth. Not only is this a biased decision but a ruthless one. Andrew traumatized these Indians by pushing them out of land they had for generations, for his own selfish good. He wanted the land to be more popular with the people and gain support while destroying, what was centuries of heritage. The Natives adopted the white culture and accepted them despite their own culture. The Natives were then stabbed in the back and moved to a reservation.
