Like many Mexican families who came here, they came looking for better opportunities. They couldn't get caught or else they'd be sent back to Mexico. My mom had been to the US once before but they ended up going back to Mexico. When they came the second time in 1988, they ended up staying here. They had to crawl under a fence in order to get into the US but they were stopped by two border patrol officers.
