Gradual release does not need to be done in liner matter.
2. you should not have "students do.." under the I do category, that should discuss teachers actions.
"huh?"
1. I do not understand how it says that you should not give homework before students are ready but then says that gradual release does not need to be done in order. I feel like the I do has to come first if we do not want to give students work of new concepts that they would need to figure out on their own.

The modeling aspect of the lesson should contain "I statements." For example, I don't know the meaning of this word, but I figured it out by using this picture.
1 huh?:
I'm still not exactly sure how there will be enough time in the day to be able to do all 4 parts of this method for every single lesson. In the video he said you shouldn't do 2 one day and 2 another; all 4 parts should be used everyday.

2 ahas I took from this lesson were that (1) formative assessments guide the lesson forward, using formative assessment to check for students comprehension on each level of the format. (2) The independent learning needs to be done in class and outside of class. The teacher cannot just teach the concept once to the students then give them homework on it, they need to go through the steps to have their students reach the independent learning stage. This will take time and practice.
1 huh I took from this was that if the order does not matter, how do we test the students on their comprehension of each step? Is the independent learning step always last?
