The stereotyping of gender within the music industry has resulted in it being a heavily male dominated industry. This does not only apply towards musicians themselves, but to producers, record label executives, and anyone “behind the scenes” as well.
Gender inequality has been quite a big issue in the music industry for pretty much ever, even with the rise of recognition of many artists who are female. Inequality is easily visible across many, if not all genres of music by simply observing who is in the spotlight. For example, when one is told to think of a rapper, their mind might immediately go to Tupac or Drake overseeing female rappers such as Nicki Minaj or Cardi B. Same goes for any other genre.
Despite that, I have also noticed there are many men in the industry who do not play into the area of toxic masculinity, a topic that is rarely talked. Others tend to reinforce certain behaviors that men should follow because they are considered to be masculine. This is usually shown through an artist's lyrics as well as the imagery in their music videos.
Women are also taking more initiative and using their platform to make a statement. Many female artists are flipping the roles, and placing men in music videos the way women would be in a male artists video. Although some may criticize it, others applaud it because they are doing bringing attention to the objectification of women.

Having a lot of money is sometimes seen as a symbol of power, the more money it is the more power a person has. Sadly, the same goes for the number of women are surrounded with,
