I would eat arroz con gandules, Puerto Rican style. What more could I ask for? I have carbs and protein all in one meal!

What is your favorite family recipe?

My family does a phenomenal pulled pork aka pernil or lechon. It is traditional in my Puerto Rican and Dominican household.

What animal do you believe most closely matches your personality and why?

A German Shepherd—of course! Google describes them as “finest all-purpose worker, the German Shepherd Dog is a large, agile, muscular dog of noble character and high intelligence. Loyal, confident, courageous, and steady.” Need I say more? LOL

What is your favorite snack?

Throw me some fruit and I am a happy camper.

If you could only have three apps on a smartphone, which three would you pick?

Twitter for the late-night giggles.
YouTube for all the random videos.
Apple Music for all the fire tunes/playlist that get me through the day.

It’s hard to choose but among them is a particular Halloween when so many staff dressed up in great costumes. Of course, Sarah Madgic’s clown was among them as well as Jeannie Woo Trump who always had fantastic costumes. Somewhere there’s a picture of us gathered on the stairs.

If you could snap your fingers and become an expert in something, what would it be?

Public speaking.

What is your favorite snack?

Hard to say. Looking at what I snack on these days it’s probably a toss up between hummus with crackers and ice cream.

If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with the extra time?

Read. I might start by revisiting Lawrence Block’s Michael Tanner series about a thief who has permanent insomnia which resulted from a war wound.

What’s your favorite sport team to root for?

I’m a fan of a lot of teams. As a kid playing little league, I really enjoyed following the Cincinnati Reds, The Big Red Machine with their stellar lineup including Johnny Bench, Joe Morgan, Ken Griffey Sr. and of course Pete Rose.

Like many kids I followed the team my father was most enthusiastic about. For my dad and me that was the Chicago Bears. He was in school at the Art Institute of Chicago during the Gale Sayers/Dick Butkus era and followed them over the years. I didn’t really watch any football until high school and was riveted with the play of probably the greatest football player ever, Walter Payton, and of course the ‘85 Bears, famous (or perhaps infamous) for the Super Bowl Shuffle.

I’ve also followed the Tennessee Titan’s since they moved from Houston to my hometown Nashville. My father did the artwork for some of their early posters and became an avid fan as well.

Also, among the teams I root for are my alma mater Michigan State’s football and basketball teams (I transferred there after my sophomore year), Stanford’s teams (you can’t work here for 21 years without getting attached to them), my adopted state’s teams, the Niners and Warriors, my birth city’s Bulls (I started watching in the early MJ era).

But the team I get most excited and loud about is the Tennessee Volunteers football team. My freshman year at UT they were an electrifying group, known as the Sugar Vols, that went to the big bowl game in New Orleans. I went to the Big Easy for a memorable trip that year. Rocky Top is having a renaissance after about 15 years in the dark. Currently 8-0 and ranked 2^nd, things are about as bright as they’ve been in 20+ years. Go Vols!!!
