I want to share some thoughts about our Grade 2 Communities Unit. It's been such a wonderful learning journey for our little ones! 

  1. Exploring Different Places: Our students have had the chance to explore different communities around the area. They've learned about villages. They can even tell you what makes each one unique! 
  2. Community Helpers: We've talked about the amazing people who help our communities run smoothly. From doctors to firefighters, they now understand how important these heroes are! 
  3. Caring for Our Environment: Our little environmentalists have learned how to take care of our planet. They've been practicing recycling, conserving water, and planting trees. 🌳♻️💧
Overall, the Grade 2 Communities Unit has been a fantastic learning experience. Our students are more aware of the world around them and are ready to make it a better place.


We're so proud of their growth and can't wait to see what other adventures await them!

They enhance their social connection and thus created thoughts for the meaningful contributions to the community they are part of. Its a journey where our little kids grew up as a responsible citizen of India. The ideology of a six year old during this unit boosted up in the following ways:-

1) Understanding the roles of various community helpers like Aanya spoke to various housekeeping staff at our society for understanding their day and duties. 
2) Pro-actively participating in all the community challenges. 
3) Problem solving attitude for the better tomorrow. 
4) Empathy and compassion for the people in the community irrespective of their culture, caste, etc. 
5) More awareness of the security guidelines as people work together in a community to solve any problem. 

Aanya has gained lot of personality traits during this unit of Inquiry. She understood about various human-made systems and the necessity of such systems in the community. She has become sincere and active child of the community only because of the day to day learnings from this unit of Inquiry and the support given by her teachers in executing all ideas.

A broader perspective and insight could be seen through the visual images and different models presented because it was a clear vision of what they want in their community .
Naissha has grown with 
1. A better understanding of people and the rural,urban and suburban.
2. Model was a clear vision of what she sees in her ideal setup with different caste, cultures and races.
3. The understanding of a peaceful and harmony environment was what Naissha looks forward for a happy setup.
4. Definately a cleaner community with a motto of Reduce, Reuse and Recycle .
The support throughout given by the mentors have been a incredible part of their journey for a clearer vision and introducing such units for the little ones and giving them details of different aspects for keeping them their things.

]]> 2023-09-24 09:33:50 UTC https://padlet.com/prachi_khanna/pqoboys3l7sz/wish/2717713278 Communities - Shagun Kakkar (2A) deepika_kakkar https://padlet.com/prachi_khanna/pqoboys3l7sz/wish/2717744191 Shagun showed good enthusiasm for the learning to be done and to do ahead from an early start, she has always been involved in the upkeep of the house greenery with her little efforts, ensuring that she contributes regularly in managing our house waste water from the RO is most effectively utilized for maintaining a green balcony space.  She from an early years has been working to help maintain this space, hence it was relatively easy for her to make instant connections with how her tiny efforts are helping the community around with a more green and clean space.

Years ago, she wanted to plant fruit bearing trees, inspired by her grand father she had got a lemon tree to the campus and it has grown significantly on the campus and she nurtures it even today with the same care. 

Shagun was excited to take her independent learning ahead, so came home on one of the days with an excitement to create a model to show her PWS community ( her Panini Building) how the school is trying its best to maintain an eco friendly and green campus space. So she worked with a waste carton box and with support from us, she created a model which best depicted the clean, green and a sustainable school campus on Aravali.

We strongly feel projects like these which help the learners to think about Sustainability and how their own choice matters the most in today's times are important and we thank the teachers of PYP-2 for making them reflective and curious to reflective at the same time to think and relate with how the young ones connect themselves with their community.

Big appreciation to the teachers of PYP-2A for their support and guidance given to all children, we are sure they were all worth the same joy as Shagun had thinking and working and showing her perspective about her community.

Kids learnt a lot about different ways of living.

Siya closely monitored the all visual images we have in our surroundings she has clear rural, suburban & urban community. 

Vision was clear Siya had good understanding of environment and peaceful harmony. 

Recycle and waste materials understanding is very clearly applied daily routine as well.

These type of units really helpful for kids.
