Any progress reports or letters home should be translated into the parents native language. Again this allows the parent to be fully aware of how their child is progressing.
Learn the language yourself. This was stated under strategies within the classroom and it is a vital part of building a relationship with students and parents. Give parents all information pertaining to your language programs offered through your school and district. Explain how program works and why it is the best fit for their child. Offer parents and student to visit the class to give them a an inside view on the program. Remind parents that they have a choice and a say in their children's education.
