I'm a 22 year old artist studying & practicing in Northern Virginia. I still reside in the same town and house that I grew up in. This house has seen every stage of my love for art– from crayon doodles, to experimenting with glitter glue & feathers, Legos, origami, pencil sketches, charcoal, watercolor painting, then acrylic, and finally oil. I can’t pinpoint exactly when I became interested in art, I just know that creating has always been in my life. I began to take art more seriously in middle school, though. I realized that creating art meant everything to me, and on top of that, I came to understand that I could get even better at it. I was around 12 years old when I started practicing art; developing my skills and exploring more mediums. I took every art class I could through high school. It was my senior year portfolio class that really led me to pursue art as a career. Now, I’m a semester away from my Visual Arts A.F.A. from NOVA and hope to transfer into VCU’s Art Education program. While I love to experiment with many mediums, many of my current works are paintings and drawings focused on the female experience. I love Jenny Saville’s work, as well as the style of Emilio Villalba’s early paintings. I draw inspiration from the stories of the women and girls around me, as well as my own experiences with sexism, femininity, and female rage.
