I make scaffolding assignments collectively about the same number of points as the final assignment and grade for responsiveness to feedback -- but scaffolding assignments I focus more on did they cover the concept vs. right/wrong

For frequent revise and resubmits, I use a very basic rubric and only look for certain issues recurring. You could also use peer review or even a trained AI agent for this.

Could assign partners for feedback - then have a grade attached to the feedback they provide a peer.

Doing this online can provide more time for students to review each others' work.

I got this idea from a biology professor -- have students use AI and a more traditional approach to find scientific info and create a summary; have the assignment focus on analysis of strengths and limitations of each

Could have students be required to communicate on a discussion board by certain dates.

In the past, I have also had students send in like Midterm reflections/review of peers effort at certain points. Then contacting the student who is not participating if peer reviews are similar.

I have also inserted a "firing clause" in some past collab work, where if a student is not collaborating, and the group has evidence I (as their "manager") will fire them and they have to complete the project solo... sounds harsh, but is a great incentive.
