This resource is a Behavior Intervention Plan from the Idaho State Department of Education. It is a helpful resource because it outlines each step of the BIP. According to the guide, "In Step 4 the team will outline the plan to teach the identified replacement behavior. Teaching a replacement behavior includes the 'lesson plan'/steps for instruction, as well as the plan for reinforcement of replacement behavior."

This would be a helpful resource for all students, but it is tailor-made for students with ASD. I chose this resource because it talks about how important it is to identify the root cause if a long-term solution is to be found. Also, it gives specific examples of strategies that could be used with students.

This resource from Vanderbilt University is great because not only does it walk the educator through every step of the process, but it also includes a blank behavior flow chart that can be filled out for a specific student. I feel like this would be extremely helpful because it would allow the MDT to be on the same page when teaching the replacement behavior. The special education teacher could fill out the form and give a copy to the child's teacher, aid, parent, and anyone else that the child works with. Consistency across the staff will hopefully speed the process up!

Behavior Interventions – Specific Strategies and Replacement Behaviors

This form would help with selecting a non-compliant behavior, like escape or attention, and replacing it with a replacement behavior. For example, if a student wants to avoid certain classmates and feels the need to escape, then the replacement behavior would be to tell the teacher and ask to be in a different group. Also, this form is helpful because it lists tiered intervention strategies that can be put into place.
